Nintendo’s gone and done it again. Or maybe they haven’t, depending on who you ask. Anyway, the whole world’s buzzing over this new Nintendo Switch 2 thing. Kind of a big deal, apparently — they sold like 3.5 million units in, what, four days? Insane numbers if you ask me. For context, that’s way more than the first Switch did back in 2017. Who would’ve thought?
I was just sipping my coffee when I read how this is the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever. Big words from Nintendo itself. They’re aiming for 15 million sales by March 2026, which feels ambitious? Or maybe just optimistic. Honestly, predicting the future isn’t my thing.
Oh, the launch wasn’t all sunshine and unicorns. Imagine picking up your shiny new console to find it’s been skewered by a receipt staple. True story — happened in New York. GameStop was handing out replacements though, so kudos for that. Meanwhile, in the UK, folks are complaining about unsealed boxes. Bad tape or something. Seriously, who checks tape strength?
Now, about the Switch 2. Big deal — or maybe not? It trades a bit of battery for some juicy upgrades. New Joy-Con 2 controllers let you aim like you’re using a mouse. And that screen! It’s a whole 7.9 inches, 1080p, 120Hz. Could be smoother than butter.
Yeah, and under the hood, there’s all this tech-talk mumbo jumbo. Eight ARM Cortex A78C cores, Nvidia stuff, loads of memory, and 256GB storage which you can bump up to 2TB. Oh, and someone figured you could possibly hack it to support M2 NVMe SSDs. But don’t ask me how.
Even with all the hype, you can still snag one at places like GameStop or Best Buy. If you’re in the UK, plenty of shops have them too. Which is crazy, considering how fast they’re flying off shelves.
Anyway, stay tuned to whatever platform you use for more on this. Or not, up to you. Just thought this whole hullabaloo was worth a mention while I finish my coffee.
