Alright, so there’s Matt Ryan, right? This guy played Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. You know, the 2013 pirate game? Anyway, he was chatting it up with a fan at some convention and hinted they might wanna revisit the game. Fans went bananas, thinking it meant a remake or something. But, plot twist! Ryan apparently wasn’t supposed to spill any beans and Ubisoft got all lawyery on him after the clip hit the online world.
So, there’s this TikTok user, kylo_hd659, who caught the whole thing at Comic Con Manchester. Ryan was just chillin’ at his signing table, yapping about the Black Flag remaster, when he realized he’d been caught yapping. Dang! Now he’s all zipped up ‘cause Ubisoft’s breathing down his neck. His words, not mine: “The thing is, when that happened, someone was doing this and I was being very free and open and I didn’t know that they were actually recording me on their phone,” he said. “Then the company threatened to sue me. So I say nothing.” Yep, sounds kinda intense, right?
While chatting, Ryan points at the camera. Like, “Really? We’re doing this again?” Probably a clever way to tell folks to quit bugging him about stuff he can’t chat about. We did hit up Ubisoft for a word, but you know how that goes. If they get back to us, you’ll hear it. Maybe. We’ll see.
Now, as for Ryan’s career since Black Flag — no more Assassin’s Creed gigs for him. He’s been busy being John Constantine for DC Comics. In everything! Live-action like Legends of Tomorrow, animated stuff, you name it. So, hey, James Gunn! If you’re rebooting the DC Universe, throw a bone and bring Ryan back. Just sayin’. Please and thanks.
