Oh wow, so like Sucker Punch is finally back on the scene. I mean, seriously, it feels like they’ve been on a long coffee break or something. Anyway, their new gig “Ghost of Yotei” is just around the corner. Remember “Ghost of Tsushima”? Yeah, it’s related but not a sequel. It’s set way later, like someone hit the fast-forward button a couple of centuries. Our hero? Not Jin Sakai this time. We’ve got Atsu, a female ronin. That alone’s got me curious.
They’re saying “Ghost of Yotei” drops on Oct 2, 2025, and it’s only on PS5. But hang on, there’s this big reveal thing in July too. A State of Play? Sounds fancy, right? I mean, Sony’s smart, taking their time to get all the awards buzz. But seriously, who can wait that long? Gonna be biting my nails.
I couldn’t help thinking about “Ghost of Tsushima” again. It wasn’t, like, the top score on Metacritic, but did anyone actually care? It was epic. Nominated for Game of the Year! I bet “Ghost of Yotei” will play the same tune, another contender in the GOTY race. October’s perfect timing for award season, though, keeping it fresh for December. Is it just me, or is recency bias really a thing?
Speaking of awkward launch timings, Microsoft kinda fluffed it with their late year releases, right? Poor “Halo Infinite” just made the Player’s Choice cut in 2021. Sony’s probably jittery about missing deadlines for awards with “Ghost of Yotei.”
Last thought, awards and critic scores mean the world to big shots like Sony. Didn’t greenlight a sequel for “Days Gone” ’cause critics weren’t impressed enough. Bummer. But with “Ghost of Yotei,” they want to claim that spotlight till the end of 2025. Let’s see if Atsu outshines her ancestor, eh?
