Wow, so the company that made Cybershoes is no more. It’s kinda wild how a big idea just… poof! Gone. I stumbled on this tidbit first from Antony ‘Skarred Ghost’ Vitillo—cool name, right? He says they stopped making these things two years back. Fast forward to 2024, one branch bites the dust. By April 2025? Boom, lights out for the whole Austrian gig.
Their co-founder, Igor Mitric Lavovski—I think he blurted it out on LinkedIn—said they packed it up last month. Weirdly, no bankruptcy gossip is floating around. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. Austrian law says if you’re up the creek financially, you gotta holler about it within 60 days. But yeah, we’re all ears on that one.
These Cybershoes, man. Not the usual VR treadmill circus act. Picture this: you’re sitting, rolling those shoe contraptions around, and voila! You’re in the game. Forget slippery bases or whatever those other VR folks churn out.
Back in 2018, they weren’t doing too shabby. Crowdfunded a cool €200k first time out—Kickstarter magic. Transformed from a funky 3D print deal to something legit. 2019, they dial it back with IndieGoGo. Snagged another €140k from over 500 folks. I guess they thought, “Hey, let’s make some noise, maybe wink at investors.”
Then, bam! November 2020, they tried a second Kickstarter for a Quest version. Didn’t rock the boat like before, though. $98k from 470 backers. Not bad, but… could be better?
So now, if you’re hunting these on their site or Amazon? Nada. Gone like your last pair of favorite socks. An Amazon price tracker—that CamelCamelwhatever thing—says the Quest model vanished late 2024.
Curious still? Check out Vitillo’s Quest review. Wonder what he thought of ‘em.
