So, here’s the scoop on the Nintendo Switch 2. Some game developer (and I can’t remember who now, typical, right?) compared this shiny new console to the Xbox Series S. Now, don’t ask me why, but this just kinda sticks: the Switch 2, in terms of raw power, is apparently real close to that Xbox Series S. Oh, and this isn’t just hearsay. Nope. This info’s from someone who actually played around with the thing while making a game for it. Pretty neat, huh?
Right out of the gate, this thing’s breaking records like nobody’s business — 3.5 million units in the first week or something. I mean, are these things made of gold? Maybe it’s on its way to outdo the original Switch, but who really knows? And because numbers apparently matter — it boasts about 10 times the graphics power of its predecessor. Imagine that. If you’re into specs, think Xbox Series S but with the Switch’s quirks.
I stumbled on this random tidbit — a developer, Edagawa something, spilled some thoughts to WCCFTech about how powerful this Switch 2 beast really is. Comparing it with Xbox and PlayStation terms is just hard, they said, but it’s apparently closer to Xbox. Meh, maybe it’s just me, but all this spec talk sounds like gibberish.
Oh, and speaking of Nintendo’s past ventures, they’ve traditionally lagged in raw power. GameCube aside, Wii, Wii U, you name it. They didn’t exactly win the power race, but they made everything about the experience. Like, remember when the Wii’s motion controls were the hottest thing? So the Switch 2’s docked, it manages 4K resolution. That’s something, right? Maybe it’s the new Wi-Fi capabilities that make it stand apart, or whatever.
Anyway, back to where I was — Nintendo’s not backing down from trying to compete with the big guns like Microsoft. Even if it’s not the most robust of the bunch, it’s holding its own pretty well. And yeah, while others focus on sheer horsepower, Nintendo focuses on what makes it distinct. Gotta appreciate them for that.
