Alright, so picture this: Ubisoft—yeah, the big cheese from France when it comes to gaming—is getting poked by this data privacy group. And, well, Ubisoft’s trying to calm things down a bit. They told Eurogamer something like, “Hey, we’re all about protecting your data!” I mean, sure, you need to be online for a solo game, but it’s just to make sure you didn’t swipe the game from somewhere shady.
So, they go, “Yep, we heard the complaint. We’re on it.” Guess they want folks to know they’re trying their best with this privacy stuff. They say you’re in charge of your data through their Privacy Center—probably not a literal center. But they’re doing all this to make things clear and give players some control. Sounds nice, right?
Now, here’s where it gets dicey: this group called NOYB threw a complaint at Ubisoft. Apparently, the game Far Cry Primal, back in 2016, was blasting a whole lotta player data all over the place. GDPR laws might’ve been giving Ubisoft the evil eye over it. Or maybe not. Depends on who you ask, I guess.
Anyway—wait, did I miss something? Ah, never mind. That’s the gist of it for now.
