Some folks into Mario Kart World – and by “into,” I mean probably a little too obsessed – are having a bit of a meltdown about something that’s, well, kinda missing. See, in the last few Mario Kart thingies, you could see which countries other racers were zooming in from. That’s gone now. And wow, people sure have some feelings about it. You know, mixed bag and all that.
So June 5 comes around, and bam, Mario Kart World drops like it’s hot. It’s one of only two big games out for the Nintendo Switch 2. The other one’s this little dude called Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour – like a $10 buffet of mini-games to show you what the new console can do. But everyone’s yammering about the kart game. I mean, even my dog’s heard about it.
Anyway, Mario Kart World’s got folks raving. Open-world stuff, classic races. So, things seem peachy. But nope, some people are ranting on Reddit about these missing country flags in multiplayer. It’s like, they really wanna show off where they’re from, or maybe it just makes everything feel like a funny little global contest. A lot of them had this weird mix of fear and excitement racing against Japanese players. Like, apparently, beating them is this big deal? Who knew.
Not everyone’s gutted about it, though. Turns out, some players got hassled before because of where they’re from. And then there’s that Irish now-in-the-UK person – they were stuck with the Union Jack before. I can’t even imagine how annoying that must’ve been. Someone else said they had to roll with the US flag? Because their country wasn’t in the Nintendo eShop. What’s up with that?
And another thing – folks are sad they can’t use Miis as their profile pics anymore. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was, like, the best playground for Miis on the Switch. You had them racing alongside Mario and pals. But now? They’re just missing, poof, vanished. Total bummer for those who loved seeing their custom little characters zoom around.
So yeah, it’s all a bit messy. But isn’t that just life?
