Sure thing, here’s my two cents on “Wings of Endless”—I mean, if you asked me yesterday, I’d say I was expecting something completely different. Ever think you’re on top of things, and then bam, you’re plunged into chaos? That’s basically this game, where you start as Hariku, a lone bounty hunter, just doing your thing, right? And then it goes nuts.
So, Hariku, who seems to think he’s the best (not saying he’s wrong), ends up on this wild ride with Owly—yeah, a talking owl. I know, right? Anyway, they’re uncovering ancient mysteries about an old war, and suddenly it all starts to feel, well, important. You find yourself in these landscapes that are like, half desert, half marsh, with some crazy snow thrown in. Secrets everywhere. It’s like stepping into a map from an RPG you played when you were a kid, but not knowing where to go.
Now, this game is a Metroidvania—whatever that means to you. Personally, it felt like some jigsaw puzzle where I kept losing the pieces. The dungeons are a trip. Sometimes straight, sometimes they twist like a labyrinth. When I say you jump and don’t know where you’ll land—you’re just hoping for the best. Shantae did it better, in my humble opinion.
And the map, oh boy, the map. Helps to not get lost, I guess, but it’s missing something… maybe like having to pause every five seconds to find where you are kind of kills the vibe. Why not an easy mini-map, right? Might just be me being picky.
By the time you’re on Chapter Two, the game’s all about frustration. Those tight spaces, thorny ceilings! Like, come on, I want to explore, not tear my hair out. It’s like they’re challenging you, but not in a fun way. I’d love to figure out the path without falling into every trap they’ve hidden.
Let’s talk about visuals and sounds. It’s beautiful—I’ll give them that. The 16-bit pixel art? Chef’s kiss. But too much of a good thing, you know? During fights, it all blurs into one big mess. I sometimes couldn’t even tell what was hitting me.
The vibration feature—is it even a feature if it’s just annoying? It’s supposed to enhance the experience? Nah, just turns into this constant buzzing—like holding onto a lawnmower handle for an hour.
Oh, wait! They’ve got a whole trophy system. If you’re into that, it could be your thing. Me, I just tripped over them while trying to, well, not trip over everything else. There’s a Platinum trophy which I’m guessing is their way of saying, “Congrats, you survived.”
So yeah, that’s “Wings of Endless.” It’s got potential, for sure, but man, it leaves you wondering if some of those design choices were meant to be a joke you just didn’t get. You pay once, you get it on PS4 and PS5. Not gonna say it’s a bad deal, but… anyway, that’s my rant. Take it or leave it, you know?
