PC VR Headset Bigscreen Beyond 2 Set to Launch Next Month with Enhanced Field-of-View and Improved Clarity

Today, Bigscreen unveiled its latest Beyond PC VR headset, setting the stage for an impressive upgrade in field-of-view (FOV) and visual clarity with the introduction of advanced pancake lenses. With these features, Bigscreen aims to appeal to both home users and businesses by offering a slimmer, lighter design enhanced with an adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD) and a universal Lightseal facial interface.

The upcoming headset comes in two versions: Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e. While Apple might have familiarized you with the ‘e’ suffix for its iPhone 16e, here the ‘e’ symbolizes the addition of eye-tracking capabilities.

This Beyond 2e model encompasses all the elements of the Beyond 2 but throws in a compact eye-tracking system. This system promises low-latency, privacy-focused tracking driven by AI-powered computer vision, and is compatible with platforms like SteamVR, OpenXR, and VRChat, with a beta release expected in Summer 2025.

Looking at price, the Beyond 2 is set at $1,019, and its eye-tracking sibling, Beyond 2e, at $1,219. However, Bigscreen is extending special pricing to previous Beyond owners, dropping these prices to $849 and $1049, respectively.

Bigscreen plans to debut these models in April, with a halo-style strap mount arriving in the third quarter of 2025. You’ll have your choice of three sleek color options: Carbon Black, Crystal Clear, and Nuclear Orange.

Consistent with its predecessor, the Beyond 1, this new ultra-sleek PC VR headset utilizes the SteamVR tracking standard. This means it works with SteamVR 1.0 and 2.0 base stations and supports a range of accessories, including body trackers and Valve’s Index controllers.

If you’re considering this headset, note that you’ll need a VR-capable PC. To verify if your system is ready, check the compatibility guidelines.

While Beyond 2 doesn’t introduce higher resolution over its predecessor—maintaining the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays—it scores big with its fresh pancake lenses. This innovation delivers a significantly expanded 116-degree diagonal FOV, a jump from the former 102-degree diagonal FOV.

The revamped Beyond 2 also boasts weight reduction, now only 107 grams, making it much lighter than some standalone competitors like the Meta Quest 3 or Apple Vision Pro, and indeed other slim PC VR headsets like the forthcoming MaganeX superlight 8K.

For improved viewing, Bigscreen claims that Beyond 2 enhances brightness and reduces glare through its updated lenses, offering dramatic advancements in edge-to-edge clarity and an ample sweet spot for viewing.

In an exciting first, Beyond 2 introduces a customizable IPD mechanism, adjustable with an included tool. This system, visibly marked inside the headset, allows precise individual control to ensure sharp visual clarity.

The step from Beyond 1’s fixed IPD system to this adjustable one means fewer headaches over fit. Before, users had 18 preset options—requiring even a facial scan using an iPhone for the correct fit.

As for accessories, while Beyond 2 adopts the same custom-fit cushions as Beyond 1, it now ships with a universal-fit Lightseal interface, broadening its appeal among both homebound and enterprise users for better shareability.

Backward compatibility with Beyond 1 accessories is robust. Existing items like the five-meter fiber optic cable, Audio Strap, and soft strap are all supported, as are pre-2025 prescription lens inserts for the Beyond 2. New lens inserts produced from 2025 onwards fit all versions: Beyond 1, Beyond 2, and 2e.

With this headset comes a soft strap, yet Bigscreen is also releasing an innovative halo-style mount later in the year, inspired by night-vision goggles for both quick adjustments and secure fit.

This versatile mount allows different configurations with standard or no facial interfaces, adding compatibility with included and optional strap solutions including third-party options. Although pricing remains a mystery, news will come as the Q3 2025 release nears.

For distribution, Bigscreen Beyond 2 will be available for order from their website, shipping out from their Los Angeles base to locations across the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia, with plans to reach South Korea, Mexico, Israel, and UAE later in the year.
