Man, so get this — there’s this production thing called Lyrical Media, right? They’ve decided to dive headfirst into, uh, the game publishing world or something. Yeah, they’re calling it Lyrical Games. Not the most creative name ever, but whatever.
Blake Rochkind? Remember him? He used to run biz dev stuff at Private Division. Anyway, he’s the guy in charge now. And guess what? He’s roped in a bunch of people who’ve worked at places like Devolver, Humble, and Microsoft. Like a supergroup but for game publishing. Kind of wild, right?
They’ve already got three games lined up — hush-hush for now, though. One of them’s being made by Blackbird Interactive. Those are the folks behind Homeworld 3. So yeah, my gaming senses are kind of tingling. Or maybe that’s just my dog trying to get my attention. Hard to say.
Blake’s got thoughts. Quote time: “We think devs know their games best.” Not gonna lie, makes sense. Too much noise in the industry, he says. And that some developers might not even want a publisher. Feels like a dating ad for developers, doesn’t it? Your game, your terms, etc., etc.
So they’re aiming for something different — a bit more personal, less corporate. They’ve got this thing about having a clear vision from the start. Game plan? Check. Audience? Double check. I mean, sometimes you just gotta know where you’re heading, or you end up at some weird carnival. Not speaking from experience…
Triple-i is the term they’re using. Sounds fancy, but it’s just high-end indie games. And apparently, they’re offering pretty sweet deals. Feels like a good time for devs who want control over their stuff without some big company breathing down their necks.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. Feels like there’s a lot of potential here. Or maybe I’m just sipping the marketing kool-aid too hard. Who knows. Anyway, let’s see where this wild ride goes.
