Oh wow, so you know your game is like the hottest ticket in town when folks are scrambling to download it the moment it drops, right? And not just that, they’re even psyched to fire it up long before the servers are humming. That’s totally what’s happening with the Battlefield 6 beta.
So, the beta for Battlefield 6 — it’s not actually playable till Thursday. You gotta have a code for that early bird special. But hey, that hasn’t halted gamers from getting those files loaded on their systems, only to kind of hang out in the menus.
Speaking of which, pre-load for the beta went live yesterday on every platform imaginable. That includes Steam. You can snag the beta files and gear up for those two weekends of beta madness. You can even launch the game. The funny thing is, you can’t truly “play” it yet — only poke around in the menus, adjusting visuals, audio, graphics, and all those nitty-gritty settings.
What’s wild is how many players are just chilling like this since it was up for grabs. Over on Steam, the Battlefield 6 beta saw over 9,463 folks online at the same time (shout out to SteamDB for the numbers), and most were hanging in-game, just twiddling with settings, as I write this.
And say what you will, the options menu here is a beast. There’s like this laundry list of things you can tweak, almost to the microscopic level. No wonder folks are diving in right away — it takes some elbow grease to get everything just right. Sure, a lot of these options don’t need the actual game live to mess with, but others do.
Still, it’s sort of genius to get ahead and explore all that before things officially kick off. You never know what hiccups you might uncover early. Take, for instance, the requirement for Secure Boot in Windows (yep, BIOS too) — gotta have that or the beta won’t even start. And update those GPU drivers, or else you’ll be stranded when it’s go time. Imagine wasting precious minutes on that while your buddies wait for you on Discord.
Anyway, the beta’s Early Access phase goes live this Thursday, opening wide for everyone on Saturday. So, go ahead, pre-load it and join the legions who are already lurking in those menus.
