Okay, so the Capcom Spotlight in June was gonna be all about the Resident Evil Requiem segment. Like, everyone was buzzing about it. We were all set to see mind-blowing gameplay, right? But, nope. What we got was more like one of those behind-the-scenes clips, you know? Interviews and stuff. Not exactly what everyone was dreaming of.
So, why did Capcom tease us like this? I’ve no clue. But they did drop some hints about the game’s direction. Turns out, they’re breaking away from the Winters saga. Goodbye familiar faces, hello something different. It’s like they wanted to rewind the series back to its Raccoon City roots, just in time for its 30th birthday bash. Makes sense, right?
Oh, and there was this little nugget about Grace, the main character. She’s from the Ashcroft lineage, hailing straight outta Resident Evil Outbreak. Anyone remember that? It’s meant to resonate with old fans while flipping a new chapter. But then—why not bring Leon back, given his past with Raccoon City? Seems Capcom was hunting for someone more… relatable. Grace, unlike super-cop Leon, can actually get freaked out. Makes for better jumpscares, I guess.
Interesting bit—the game’s got both first and third-person views. Apparently, Capcom noticed peeps sticking to one style. So, they figured, why not toss both into the mix? A little something for everyone. And yeah, it’s not just because of that third-person DLC for Resident Evil Village. They said it’s just how gamers roll.
Anyway, if you’re hyped, mark your calendar. February 27, 2026, is D-day for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Will it be epic? Who knows. But hey, at least the anticipation is half the fun, right?
