Alright, let’s see if I can untangle this and make it sound like something someone might scribble down while waiting for their coffee. Here goes:

So, there’s this thing coming up that might just fill the gaping hole left by Orbus VR closing shop. It’s called Eldramoor: Haven in the Mist. Yeah, I know, the name sounds like something out of a fantasy novel, but hang tight. They’re kicking off a Kickstarter (say that three times fast) next week. June 24th, mark the date if you’re into VR MMORPGs—or bored, who knows.
Resolute Games, which sounds pretty serious, but I picture them in their pajamas, is behind this. They formed in February 2024—I guess when everyone else was trying to stick to their New Year’s resolutions. Apparently, they’re ex-Orbus players who just couldn’t let it go. Respect.
So, what’s the deal with Eldramoor? It’s got this legendary hero, Eldranis, and you’ll be fighting for the people, doing stuff like mastering professions and randomly chilling in taverns. I mean, who doesn’t love a good tavern? But there’s some ancient evil lurking—there’s always an ancient evil, right? Always creeping, never just texting first.
You’ll choose classes like Warrior, Mage, Monk, Alchemist… the gang’s all here. Raids, world bosses, and maybe a side gig as a miner or cook? There’s talk of fishing too, which I find oddly relaxing, virtually or not. Some features might not make the cut at launch, and honestly, isn’t that just life?
Funding-wise, they’re shooting for $25,000—like Zenith did. Lynn M. Souza, the brains behind this, seems optimistic. Let’s hope someone’s keeping an eye on the budget because, let’s face it, money gets slippery quick in game dev.
The world of VR MMORPGs is like juggling flaming swords while riding a unicycle—Orbus closed, Zenith hit a money wall, but Ilysia VR seems to be trucking along okay. They made it out of Kickstarter limbo in 2020. Wouldn’t blame you if you missed that one.
Lynn mentioned, on Discord of all places, Orbus was great, but it’s 2023, and things need updating. Quest 1 just doesn’t cut it anymore. All this chatter about what was and what’s next… it’s nostalgic and hopeful at the same time. Personal note: I tried to keep up with these updates once—exhausting.
Eldramoor’s aiming for a late 2026 release on a bunch of platforms. They’re talking alpha in late 2025 and beta around summer 2026. Long timelines… I could change my entire career path twice by then.
Anyway, you might want to check out their Kickstarter on June 24th till July 24th if this tickles your fancy—or even if it doesn’t but you just like following campaigns. Forget the magazines—their Steam page is up now, so you can wishlist it if you’re into that sort of commitment.
Who knows if this will actually hit the ground running, but hey, sometimes you gotta roll the dice.
